The Senior Meals Program, Inc. was established in 1984 to serve seniors aged 60 and older. Currently, through three programs, Senior Meals feeds more than 5,600 seniors living in Kent County each year.

Homebound Meal Program
• Served more than 2,400 seniors over 600,000 meals last year.
• Delivers nutritionally balanced meals to seniors who are homebound and unable to prepare meals for themselves.
• Offers individual home health assessments twice a year, at no cost to the senior.

Congregate Meal Program
• Served more than 2,500 seniors over 90,000 meals last year.
• Manages 13 dining centers throughout Kent County so on-the-go seniors can get a hot and healthy meal close to home.
• Offers social activities, medical check-ups and health education classes at the dining centers.

Senior Meals Food Pantry
• Focuses solely on serving the needs of seniors, a first in Kent County.
• Serves over 500 seniors a week at three pantries.
• Offers products specific to a senior citizen’s needs. Pantry items include various meat and poultry products, dairy products, fresh fruit, vegetables and low sodium foods.
• Allows seniors to “shop” the pantry twice a month.
• Offers information and referral services to those needing assistance with medical or social issues.

Michigan Community Foundation Tax Credit.

For example:

• Married donors, filing jointly, can receive a 50% tax credit of up to $200 on a gift of $400 to a permanent endowment fund.
• A single person can receive a $100 tax credit on a gift of $200.
• Michigan businesses have the potential to receive up to a $5,000 tax credit                       (not to exceed 5% of total Single Business Tax) on a gift of $10,000.

and has put in place a Donor Privacy Policy to honor donor’s rights.

General Collection and Use of Personal Information

Senior Meals Program, Inc. collects and uses personal information such as:

name, address, phone number, and e-mail addresses when a donor voluntarily provides it to us. 

In addition, Senior Meals Program, Inc. maintains a record of each donor’s giving history. 

This information is kept on file for IRS purposes and to assist us in budgeting and forecasting.

Senior Meals Program, Inc. does not sell, trade, or share its donor list with any other organization.
